Firestone Halloween Costume Expectations

In an effort to enjoy Halloween at Firestone CLC appropriately, respectfully, and in accordance with school rules, we are allowing students who would like to wear a costume to school on Monday, October 31, to adhere to the following guidelines when selecting a costume:
1. No head coverings unless part of the costume, NO Halloween masks, or FULL face paint.
Staff members must be able to identify students.
2. Costumes that are provocative, revealing, sexual in nature, or employ questionable props are not permitted. Bodies must be covered- no sports bras, short shorts, etc.
3. Costumes that depict violence, alcohol, or drugs are not permitted. Fake weapons are not allowed.
4. Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion are not permitted.
5. Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in your classes, including P.E.
Costumes may not disrupt or impede traffic or present issues of safety in the hallway.
6. All administrators have the authority to “veto” a student’s costume without question.
7. Costumes must adhere to the Akron Public School District’s dress guidelines.
Students wearing questionable costumes will be required to change into normal school attire and be issued school consequences. If you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of your costume idea, we encourage you to speak to your academy principal before Monday. This has always been a fun time. Let’s continue the tradition! Have fun dressing up but be mindful of your costume.
