Students explore military service pathwayStudents and family members from Ellet and Firestone community learning centers, and Kenmore-Garfield and North high schools attended the All-Ohio US Armed Forces Career Commitment Celebration March 9 in Columbus.

The Ohio Department of Education hosted the event.  Ohio recognizes military service as a meaningful post-high school pathway for students and proudly celebrates students who commit to serving.

At the celebration ceremony, students took the Military Oath and signed the Military Commitment Document to Serve.  Students also received a certificate and a red, white and blue cord to wear during their high school graduation ceremonies.

In addition, students were addressed by high-ranking military officials from each branch, the interim State Superintendent of Public Education, Stephanie Siddens and Lt. Governor Jon Husted.

A special thank you to Major John Jacob, JROTC Instructor at Kenmore Garfield, for his help in navigating the event!
