Firestone IB Beats National Averages
Image of IB StudentsThe International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Class of 2020 at Firestone Community Learning Center is proud to announce that 28 of the 31 scholars earned the prestigious IB diploma for a passing rate of over 90%. The world-wide passing rate was 79%.

The highest IBDP score this year was earned by Maximilien Newman with 34 points, followed by Viraaj Kurri, Jeremy Lohr and Victoria Lorenzon all of whom accumulated 33 points. Anthony Gorsuch and Lena Nemer had 32 points; and Madeline Dyer, Alexis Mackey and Caleb Mitchell earned 31 out of a possible 45 points.

These results were achieved without the May IB examinations which were cancelled due to the pandemic and which might have produced even higher scores as Firestone students historically test very well. This is a true testament to the teaching and learning as results were based on the classwork done under the supervision of the IB teachers.

Akron Public Schools has offered the two-year Diploma Programme at Firestone CLC since 1998 and now is offering the Primary Years Program at Case CLC, King CLC, Resnik CLC and Portage Path C:C and the Middle Years Programme at Litchfield CLC. For more information regarding these programs please contact the schools.
