College and Career Academies of Akron will transform the traditional high school experience to an innovative model that prepares all students for the future. Academies link academic subjects to college majors and career sectors. Students and teachers use experiential learning to make lessons come alive. Different pathways designed and supported by community partners are created to introduce students to a variety of college and career options. Academy Design Team Meetings

Teachers, administrators, parents and students are welcome to attend these Academy Design Team meetings, each held in their respective locations. The teams will reflect on student and community interests and existing programs and facilities and will research high-demand, sustainable wage positions in Northeast Ohio. Each team will design a proposal identifying priority workforce pathways to be housed at their school.

The next scheduled meeting is September 7 at STEM High School (123 S. Forge St.) from 6-7 p.m. This meeting is for parents who may not have been able to attend any of the previous meetings. For more information, contact Rachel Tecca at 330.761.2779 or rtecca@apslearns.org.
